Digital Production Bundles

Paperless Shop Floor with G-Code Cloud | Learn how your operators can access setup sheets, inspection sheets, 3D models, and more — right from the Machine HUD.

Overview

A Digital Production Bundle is a collection of documents tied to a specific part and revision — setup sheets, inspection plans, tooling lists, 3D models, G-code programs, and any other files your team needs to run a job correctly.

The goal is simple: eliminate paper on the shop floor and give your team instant access to the right, revision-controlled documents for the job they’re running — without navigating the G-Code Cloud file tree or hunting down printed paperwork.

  • Operators access critical documents needed to execute from Machine Hud.

  • Planners can ensure queued up jobs are ready to hit the floor from Job Planning.

Production Bundles in the Machine HUD

Once files are uploaded to G-Code Cloud and production bundles are defined, operators can see all the documents associated with the program currently running on that machine using Machine HUD as seen below.

Once the Production Bundle button is selected, you can toggle to view any of the available artifacts.

Production Bundles in Job Planning

Whether accessing Job Planning through Playbooks or through Delivery Track in left navigation, planners can view all associated artifacts in the production bundle by selecting the "paper clip icon".

Once open you can select which document you would like to see.

Production Bundles in the Advanced Machine Dashboard

Anywhere you access the advanced machine details — drilling in from your Playbook's Spotlight view or directly in the Advanced Dashboard — you can instantly pull up documentation for the current job.

Revision Alerts

When a controlled document is updated in G-Code Cloud (for example, an inspection sheet with tightened tolerances), the Machine HUD will display a visual alert to notify operators that a new revision is available. This ensures no one is working from an outdated document.

Setting Up Production Bundles

Setting up digital production bundles requires Admin level permissions to G-Code Cloud. Please contact your admin and follow the steps below.

Key Terminology

Before getting started, here are the key concepts you’ll encounter when working with Digital Production Bundles:

Term

Definition

Production Bundle

A collection of documents tied to a specific part and revision — setup sheets, inspection plans, tooling lists, 3D models, G-code programs, and any other files your team needs to run a job correctly.

Platform

A named group of machines that share the same document configuration. Each machine belongs to one platform. For example, all turning centers running the same family of parts might belong to one platform.

Artifact

An individual file within a production bundle — for example, a single setup sheet PDF, a G-code program, or an STL model file.

Steps To Configure Production Bundles

The following must be in place before bundles are available on the shop floor:

  1. Files uploaded to G-Code Cloud — All documents (PDFs, STLs, programs, etc.) must be uploaded to GCC. They do not all need to be in a single folder; bundles can pull from multiple directories.

  2. Platforms defined by an admin — An administrator configures which machines belong to which platform and which documents are included in each bundle. Each machine belongs to one platform. Documents can be shared across platforms as needed, so you don’t have to duplicate files.

  3. Enable Production Bundles in Machine HUD — The Machine HUD bundle button is enabled in your site’s settings. Any user with Executive or Admin access to the Production Monitoring dashboard can turn this on. Contact your Datanomix CSE if this is not yet visible.

Drag the Production Bundles object so that the option will display prominently in Machine Hud. By default, the Production Bundles button will be located under the "More" menu in Machine HUD.

User Permissions

Every Datanomix user account is provisioned with read-only G-Code Cloud access by default. This means:

  • Operators and floor users can view production bundles from the Machine HUD without a full GCC license

  • Controlled documents cannot be edited or deleted from the Machine HUD

  • Only authorized users (engineers, programmers, admins) can upload, modify, or publish files in GCC

This permission model keeps G-Code Cloud as the single source of truth for all revision-controlled documentation, with a full audit trail maintained.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can a document be part of more than one platform?

A: Yes. Documents stored in G-Code Cloud can be referenced by multiple platforms. Only the machine-to-platform assignment is one-to-one.

Q: What file types are supported?

A: G-Code Cloud supports PDF files (setup sheets, inspection plans, drawings), G-code programs, and STL 3D model files viewable directly in the browser. Most other file types can be uploaded and downloaded; in-browser rendering may vary.

Q: What happens when I update a document?

A: When you publish a new revision of a controlled document in G-Code Cloud, the Machine HUD will display a visual alert (a color change on the document) to notify operators that the document has been updated. The previous revision remains in GCC’s version history.

Q: Do operators need a separate G-Code Cloud login?

A: No. Any existing Datanomix user account includes read-only G-Code Cloud access by default. Operators can access bundles directly through the Machine HUD without a separate login or additional license.

Q: My files aren’t in a single folder. Do I have to reorganize them?

A: No. Bundles can pull files from multiple folders within G-Code Cloud, so your existing file structure doesn’t need to change.
